Travail - Shrewsbury

Travail Employment Group know how important it is to keep staff motivated and this year to help inspire staff to push themselves they ran a competition to win a brand new VW Fox.

The competition was run across branches in Shrewsbury, Wrexham, Telford, Newtown, Chester, Aberystwyth, Mold and the Wirral but the lucky winner was 26 year Lisa Alcock from Shrewsbury. Lisa, who has also just been promoted to branch manager for Shrewsbury, joined Travail straight after university and she has worked hard to progress within the company ever since.

When she found out what the prize was, she knew straight away that she wanted to win, and to motivate herself she stuck pictures of the car with her own head superimposed on top all around work and her home, so she would never lose focus on what she was trying to achieve. When asked about the competition, Lisa said: “My old car was in need of being replaced as it was 10 years old and very much past its best, so I made sure I worked as hard as possible to win this car.”

All sales staff were included in the competition and it ran from April to September. A number of things were considered including sales figures, number of visits, new clients introduced as well as targets met. Lisa managed to introduce 40 new clients to Travail and exceeded the targets set.

When the presentation of the car was made, Lisa had no idea that she had won and was shocked when Jane Marsden, Travail’s director came up to her and handed over the keys. “We wanted to surprise everyone after a sales meeting. The staff knew we were announcing who had won but they didn’t know the car was there ready for the winner,” comments Jane. “Lisa was speechless was I handed over the keys and we were all really pleased for her – there wasn’t a dry eye in the place!” Travail had prepared the car ready for Lisa, so she could take it out for a spin straight away. She is now the very proud owner of a brand new 1.2 VW Fox. “I’ve never owned a new car before and the night after I got it, I just couldn’t believe it. I was going round telling everyone – even complete strangers I was that excited!” concluded Lisa.
